Well what I mean is, I can't change the tune on the chip like I can on the tuner. I was wondering if I could alter the chip through my tuner on my desktop computer. I'm not sure how chips are rewritten, or if a dealer has to do it. But if I do something like gears I could take my current tune and with my tuner, upload my current tune onto the computer. Then I could make the proper adjustments on my computer and rewrite it on the tuner. Then I could take the chip and reprogram it. The tuner would really only be a storage device for tunes, but I could be completely ignorant on how this works, which I probably am and everything I just said can't be done.

The flip chips are seperate from a tuner (all the ones I know of any way) They are self contained controllers which store 4-10 custom tunes depending on which one you get. They will plug into your cars computer like chips of old, but they are loaded with custom tunes you can change on the fly. It takes special hardware to burn the flip chips because they are like the old JET chips. You can buy the stuff from sct to do it from your pc I think but you would have to get ahold of them to find out. In short, you will not be using your programmer any more, u will have a little switch that you can turn to what ever tune you want when you want and change your tunes. It is a great idea if you want the on the fly adjustability and since there are at least 4 custom tunes on there you should be able to have race/street/N/A tunes at your disposal. Here is a link to AM's website where you can get the flip chips, they will but 4 tunes on it for u, you just have to tell them what you want.
It isn't difficult to do it just means you probably won't be using the handheld any more.

all the manual transmissions are 1:1 in 4th, that goes for the t56 and tko as well. i would do 4.10's on a 4v car with a power adder or just a lot of power, 4.30's in an n/a 4v especially an auto. the auto's dont redline much higher than the gt's for some reason, maybe 100-200 more. the manuals do redline quiet a bit higher than auto machs and gt's. american muscle and most other places can only mail order a tune for n2o up to a 100 shot, wount even do one for 125. bolt ons are things that need to get done with or without a power adder, especially with.

The auto's red line is set lower because it's got a cast crank.

+1 on what they said about the switch chip... That's what I was trying to say, but it was late so I didn't try very hard!

I still say 4.30's if you're going to run nitrous. That's what I did and I loved it. It worked great for me. Besides, you don't run nitrous every time you drive the car, so why not have the 4.30's there when you want them. When you go to the track just stay out of the nitrous until 2nd gear, then hold on!
