when my 95 gt was doing that it was a mass air flow senser. mine did it around 3500 rpms and would not accelerate any more than that. if not that then i dunno.

your stock tranny is fine for that.

a short shifter.. shortens your shift points and they are adjustable to fit your tastes.
you won't miss 3rd with one.
I would go with the MGW myself.

shorten your shifts, prevents you from missing 2nd to 3rd shifts. Great mod

i think the sputtering could be your altanator(sp?). have autozone or any localshop check it.

as for the new tranny i would go with a tko or a 6 speed of some sort ( theres another that alot of mustang guys put in there, but its slipped my mind)

and good short throws for our cars are the mgw short shifter, steeda tri ax, or the pro 5.0 shifter, personally id go with the MGW though

If you want a new tranny I would go with
T-56 Kit 94-04
or
Tremec Transmissions part TCET5008 or TCET4617 depending on if you want your 5th gear to be a usable racing gear or an economy gear for cruising.

As far as a shifter goes, I would get MGW FTW!

+1

That t-56 is an awesome transmission. You would be able to take a nice low RPM cruise with a set of 3.73s or 4.10s in your car. Whereas my car with 3.73s is doing 60mph at 2000rpms with my stock 5-spd. Not to mention i feel pretty beastly when i drive a six speed

+1 When I have the need (meaning a lot of power) and the money I will be getting the Viper Spec Kit (2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00, 0.74, 0.50) with 4.10s. That way 6th gear with 4.10s will be almost the same as my 5th gear now with stock 3.27s AND I will have a stronger tranny with closer gears 1-4, better for the track.
