CAI Worth The Money?

Im not so sure that a CAI's like a JLT really improves perfomance a whole lot. A buddy of mine says that the stock ones aren't to restrictive as is. Shed some light on this for me. Did you notice a difference with your CAI?

C&L or JLT you will notice an increase for sure. I just did the silencer delete and P&P the TB and it was a definate increase.

What's the silencer delete? Is this a free mod of sorts?

the silencer does a little increase. You can feel it, but you have to search for it

JLT from what I hear makes pretty decnet intakes for the price. I know they claim 8-12 RWHP with either the CAI or RAI. Both allow up to a 75mm TB. with that and a new plenum im sure youd notice a nice little increase

silecner delte is quite possibly the simplest mod....

1. unlatch the buckle to your intake housing
2. you need a nut driver. cant rememebr size but its small and un screw the nut on the left side
3. take the intake out and you will see something like this attached to it. ImageShack - Hosting :: silencervy8.jpg
4. just rip that out and throw it in the garage just in case you ever need it again
5. bolt everything back up and your good to go

They are definatly worth the money. I think the C&L pipe is like $150. Couple that with a bigger MAF setup and it is a very nice RWHP gain.

a cai is always a good investment, but the stocker doesnt do too bad. i recommend the c&l, k&n, jlt, s&b. the others are good, but are usually steel and have some heat soak issues.

If I could go back, I would have just put the extra money into a throttle body or something like that. I could feel a little bit of a difference with my ram air intake but it wasn't anything spectacular.

+ 1 either that or the new Victor intake manifold from edelbrock, its in the new 5.0 mag its supposedly going for $309 no HP numbers though but its increase is 2500-7500 rpm range and its good up to 600hp, I think thats my next purchase as soon as its released .
