MGW Shifter
i'd like to get a short throw shifter, and have researched brands pretty good to find i'd like an MGW. my question is. how hard is it to install? is it reasonable to think I can do it myself (im not really that mechanically inclined) or should I bring it somewhere. how much should it be to have it installed?

Totally easy! You can do with a socket set and a screwdriver!

look at your drivers side door.
a sticker will tell you what month your car was made on it. and you mean t45 or t3650 a t56 is a six speed

8mm, 13mm sockets, ratchet, 6" extention, scraper.
easy as pie, comes with very detailed instructions. and BTW, MGW > everything else

Yes its easy, just remember the stock shifter WILL come off no matter how many times you tell yourself it wont, like I did. By far my favorite mod so far.
