Make a couple 3rd gear pulls on the highway and data log it. Look at your a/f reading on the logger for the front 02's. If it is good or rich, throw some timing to it. On the diablo tuner I ran the timming advance as far as it could go and it took all of it. I am not sure how far the sct goes but just make some timming adjustments and run it. Then trying pulling some fuel out in small incriments. Listen for knock and detenation. Its actualy quite user friendly you just have to do a lot of pulls and datalog or do like me and sweet2kstang do, have somebody ride shotgun holding the tuner watching the readings.

^ thats a good idea, but its kinda ... If you start off running rich, than i'd say its cool to keep on pulling and tuning, but if you start out lean w/ some knocking, then i would honostly let the pro's deal with it, You could have some bad bad results if thats the case.

But hey, if you really know what ur doing then go ahead... i'm just trying to give you my opinion.

Be careful! The livewire does not have accurate AF readings for WOT unless you have a wideband connected. IMO its not worth adding more timing to try and squeeze a couple hp out by getting that much closer to the knock limit. Here is some info on detonation that you should read before you start playing with the settings.

How is it gay? He asked how he could do it himself. and thats the only way. If it starts out lean and knocking I would say put some fuel to it. Don't say its gay, its what the thing is made to do. You are supposed to be able to use it yourself (within reason) what do you think the shop is gonna do with it? The same thing. The only difference is the wideband and dyno. The narrowband can be defined by using a narrowband 02 chart and you can get very close. It just takes more work and converting. I definatly would reccomend putting it on the dyno but not everyone wants everybody and his brother working and messing with their cars. Thats just me though, I like to do my own, and learn.

Well not really. Here is more info on widebands and narrowbands. Please explain how the narrowband can be used at anything lower than 14 when the output is like this.

Also if you do tune it till it starts knocking make sure to pull out 3-4* to also get rid of un-auditory knocking. You can make a cheap knock detector that works pretty good for only $10.

Well yes realy. I didn't say it was the best way to do it. You guys have missed the question in the very first post. How can he make SOME adjustments at home. He never asked how he could precisly dial in his car from home. Narrowband 02's can be used effectivly within reason. Its not the best but It can be done. Both sweet3kstang and myself dial our own cars in, on and off the bottle using both bank 02 sensor voltages.
