Dammit! (AC Compressor)

My G-Damn A/C compressor just froze up on me and I had to tow the G-Damn car back to my house!

Oh Well! I've been meaning to yank the compressor anyways. I've been looking at the A/C compressor deletes that are out there and the plastic pulley is not very appealing! Does someone make an A/C Eliminator with a cooler pulley than the plastic one that I've been able to find?

John

Why would you want to delete the a/c? just get a new compressor, youre not going to free up much HP anyways since the compressors clutch is only engaged and running only when your a/c is on... deleting it isnt worth the money an effort IMHO esp when you live in a rather warm climate and DD or not it isnt pleasing to be sweating so much your balls stick to the sides of your thigh lol

Because I'm building the car for track only so I don't need A/C!

BTW the "Balls sticking" thing was TMI! LOL!

Does anyone know if I can completely forgo the A/C delete kit and go with the UPR short belt kit instead?

Not only will he free up some rotational HP but will shave off about 60+ lbs by removing the whole AC system.

MAN!!! I was looking underneath the dash to see how I could remove the A/C system! That thing is going to be a B!TCH to remove! Also, If I do remove that part of it I'll have to remove the heater too! I can stand not having A/C, I just roll down the windows and go faster!

But no heat......

The weight savings is considerable (not sure it's 60 lbs, but it's at least 45), however the saved power from less rotational mass will be barely, if at all, measurable.

With the AC off the only thing turning is the AC clutch idle wheel, which doesn't weigh that much and is not of large enough diameter to require any huge amount of power to accelerate or keep spinning...

In my case the clutch on the compressor seized and it wouldn't turn rendering the car inoperable! I was going to take it out anyways and knock off around 10 lbs off the front!(At least it felt like around 10 lbs.!)

Can anyone shed some light on pulling the A/C system? Do I need to pull the dash to get it out? Where should I start? Is there a way I can yank the A/C and still keep the heater?

John

Modular Mustang Racing
AC Eliminator Kit
Save up to 60 pounds of off the front end with this kit, improves cooling by removing A/C condenser, improves power by removing A/C compressor, and improves weight distribution.
