Help...Electrical Problem

Help Question: I have a 2003 cobra and have added sequentials about a year ago with no problems. Two days ago my blinker was cycling faster that usual So I checked it out and had to replace a bulb in the rear. Everything worked great for about an hour then total failure. My tail lights are on but now my hazzards don't work, braking doesn't illuminate and my blinkers dont work at all front or back. Turn signal in dash is completely out as well ( I miss that annoying clicking sound). my first thought was check the fuses. They appear fine....so now I'm worried. Could just simply replacing the "correct bulb" cause something like this and why didnt it blow immediately? Why did everything function for about an hour? Perhaps it is a bigger problem and that is why my bulb burnt out in the first place. thanks in advance

Bad Multi Function Switch

no need to remove steering wheel
remove plastic around steering wheel and you will see a torx screw on top and one on bottom that hold it to the rest of that crap under the plastic

is the multifunction switch something I can fix/replace fairly simple myself?

what causes that to malfunction? Thanks again

i have never done it. but i think its pretty simple just have to take the plastic molding and stuff off and then you should beable to take it off. I dont know what causes the malfunction.

I haven't had the problem, but I would also check the relay. I don't know about fords, but on my chevy truck when my relay went bad when I put my turn signal on it would blink really really fast. Your manual will tell you what relays are for what, and where they are.

Check your owners manual for fuse, relay, and flasher locations, Zoo.

Here's an online one, I hope it matches your ride man.

Get a multi meter and start tracing the problem either forward or back ward until you either get 12 volts or lose 12 volts. there is also a blinker switch some where that controls all the blinker functions, go to Advance or Autozone thay can help you locate it. and they are cheap about 5 bucks I think. Start simple then work towards the hard stuff.

thanks all. I had to look up a few fuse ID's in the online manual that Zippee posted. I thank you Zippee especially. My manual is in storage with all my important papers like my window sticker and title-not easily accessible. Apparently the fuse had to be taken out to see any damage, that’s why I thought they looked OK when I first looked over them. Anyway replaced #13 with 15amp fuse and we are golden. The problem that blew the fuse was a circuit punctured through the sequential module’s protected rubber coating and touched metal in my car-This caused a short. Had them on the car for over a year now with no problems. Love them! . Good thing I shopped smart this time and have a lifetime Warranty with them. I emailed the company Saturday Night and had a response in an hour. All I have to do is mail back the broken one and they are sending out new one immediately. Wish all companies were like that. I highly recommend them just as I always have. If you want sequentials you should really check out their site.

Thanks again all for the quick post and thanks again to M&M Electronics.

that kit doesn't interfere with the speed of the front lights does it?? I saw a kit that included a new flasher and the front signals stayed on for 1 to 2 seconds before going off.. looked horrible

No problem with mine. They are just like the factory speed. I hear there are slower sequencers-they may cause that to happen but mine flash fairly quick in back so it doesn’t mess with the stock rhythm.
