Track Day Carnage...

Just got back from a track day....

First pass of the day -- 13.005 @ 104 -- 1.83 60'
2nd -- 13.14 @ 104 -- 1.95 60'
3rd -- 13.20 @ 103 -- 2.0 60'
4th (Street Tires) -- 13.50 -- 1.90 60'

First time on the track with drag radials(Nitto), and it seemed to get progressively worse I was hoping for a 12.99 pass, but the harder I tried, the further away I got

I did also manage to send the rearend into a downward spiral, and by the 3rd pass, I was spinning the right wheel only.... Guess its time for a 31 spline carrier and axles.... What are you guys running and and pro's or con's over the selection?

thanks guys...

stock weight (except i took out spare & jack)
stock head/cam, full bolt on (minus throttle body)
long tubes, o/r h, mac weld-ins
4.10s, weld-in subframes, adjustable upper & lowers, adjustable strange shocks, spec stage 2, steeda tri-ax

I KNOW it has a 12.90 in it, I just couldnt get it there for the day

I cannot figure out the nittos. I was either bogging or blowing the tires, seems like the longer I heated them, the worse they hooked???

yeah dude let me know when you are coming around this region! Where did you get your t-lok? I have been tossing around the idea of getting one out of an f150 and stuffing some extra clutches in it to be a little on the cheaper side, but I'm not set on that

was there a price on there for that? That is really interesting!

I dont have a lot of money to go all out with this..... but its gotta be fixed

Could be worse though... my roommate took his car and had a nitrous backfire coming off the line.... 2 spark plugs were missing electrodes, two were bent from contact with an internal part

600 bucks or so for a locker. Not cheap. but it will never wear out. NO clutches to deal with. just gears in side of it.

It's the ole saying, slow is fast. It seems to feel faster and your trying harder, but really you're slower from trying too hard.

i dont know what i will drive down there when i go. last time i took docs eclipse since i have 4.10's and the ole lady was pregnant. i am about to rip the 4.10's out to go to 3.73's or go back to 3.55's. if i do that, i will probably take the pos down there. droppedbass wants to meet up too when i get down there. the last time i was there i ran across a turbo supra i have a little score to settle with too.

me and doc will be building in just a few weeks. i am going to tie up some odds and ends first before i do the motor i think. i have a car in the garage that i am doing some work on right now, but will be done soon and have our cars in there. his mach is taking to every little mod so damn well, his car is faster than mine for the most part. my car is so damn temperature tempermental, when i am at full running temp i loose to him.but when the motor is cool, we run door to door. by far the funnest racing i have had i a really long time!

Why are you removing the 4.10's? Are you having traction issues?

I am considering buying 4.10's so recommend me some gears.

i have had traction issues for a very long time! i have ran stock 3.27's, 3.55's, and 4.10's. everyone on here were raving about 4.10's, and kept talking shit because i thought it would be too much. i knew it would be, but against my own advise, i went ahead and ran them. n/a, they are great and recommend them. with any power adder, i hate them. i had too change a little on my driving style, and raise my rev limiter and window switch to get through the traps without bouncing limiter. anymore power, i will have to start shifting into 5th. hard to recommend a gear when i dont know your mods or your future plans with the car.

i am in the middle of a few things and dont know when i will be able to make it down there. i am hoping to be able to have the internals built, with headwork and at least a 2 stage by the time i get down there.
