Dome Light Won't Go Out?

The dome light in my '99 GT used to stay on for a few seconds after I opened the door, now it won't go out at all. Is there a way to set the timer?

door switch is shot. its in the lock mechanism.

or grab your damn light knob and turn it clockwise, i bet you turned the damn dome light on with the headlight switch knob and don't know how to turn it back to the right to turn it off.

thats kinda a given if he hasn't already tried that then he needs a kick in the ass

but your correct he might have had a brain fart and over looked this.

Keep in mind this is from a guy who thinks a Kia Spectre is a panty dropper.

Juggalo X...is it Ford PN XF1 10B987A? My local dealer says it's one switch for door ajar warning light and dome light. How come my door ajar light goes out but the dome light stays lit?

door ajar light could be burnt out or the switch is not shutting off the courtesy light.

My passenger door did the same thing to me....so I took the bulb out.

Turns out the switch was sticking in the passenger side door. I shot some WD40 in the latch mechanism (actually shot a bunch in there with the little red tube attached to the can) and it works like a champ. I guess it's a pretty common problem with Mustangs, F series trucks and Explorers, the switch in the latch is tiny and it gets stuck from heavy grease meant to lubricate the latch.
