Fixt
Find out what your local shops use, that way if you ever get it professionally tuned or dyno'd you have a flash device that there system is compatible with... and if they use Diablo find another tuner

Why? Its a great tuner. Great adjustability and easy to understand end user functions. SCT is good too but I would get the xcal 3. Same stuff as the 2 plus some. Diablo is just fine.

i have a diablo and like it, i recommend it. but it is important to use what your tuner is using. cant go wrong with any of them really. all are reputable, and are recommended.

I have an sct 4 bank because thats what my favorate shop (dez racing) uses and since he was burning it I figured it would be best.I don't have much feedback because the shop burned it and I havn't had to touch it at all.

Sniper is too new and still have a lot to fix/correct within their own paramaters, still have some weak zones. Same with the Xcal3. Don't be the guinea pig for either one. Either Xcal2 or Diablo.

Sniper seems to have gotten their act together with version 15.x of the interface firmware (at least it works reliably without locking up, and the data logging works too). I also picked up another 6 HP peak and 5-20 HP in the 3500 to 4800 rpm range using a tweaked version of their 93 octane/X-pipe/catback basic tune (versus a tweaked Granatelli Fuego 93 octane tune).
This said however I would only recommend the Sniper SF package to those who are willing to participate in the evolution of a products that has a lot of promise, some of which is as yet unfulfilled. For example, the Special Forces tuning software has no provision for documenting the selected timing or fuel modifiers. You must do this manually, create and Excel worksheet, or whatever--I.e. reloading a saved tune's ".txt" file provides NO indication of what timing and fuel settings were used to create that tune, so you need to keep a log of tune filenames vs. settings to keep things straight. This is further complicated by an artificial 15-character filename limitation imposed by their "save file" dialog (I suspect driven by filename size limitations of the interface). The Recon software also has great "as yet unrealised" potential, however it suffers from the lack of any persistence of user configuration and a few PID data presentation issues--a new version has been promised "real soon now". Sniper's support is great, they are readily available (M-F, 9-6) and via telephone and in person have always made me feel as though my problem truly was their problem. However when your PCM is trashed on a Friday night due to a firmware error and you find yourself walking for the weekend this is of little consolation--I still will not flash my tune other than M-F 9-6. Another good thing is that the Sniper community is active and supportive, and also quite zealous (I'm certain I will have riled the faithful with what I've said here). I'm going to stick with Sniper's system because there is great potential, however all said and done if I had it to do over again I would have gone with SCT.
