I tried that once, before I bought another one. I peeled the metallic side of ceiling insulation and peeled a sheet of cardboard in half I stapled them together layed my hood on the floor and cut the contours. Someone else might have a completely different way of doing it but mine worked it protected the hood and didnt fall apart...The hood did though, thats what you get for buying cheap replica fiberglass parts.

Sorry to bump up an older thread, but if you still need a custom hood liner I can help! I make hoodliners from aircraft firewall material that is SUPERIOR to the stock liner and it comes with a heat resistant decal!
Thanks,

Hi jrfan4life,
Thanks for replying, they're $85 for the liner, $15 for the silver running pony decal and $13 for shipping. $113 total and I take PayPal. My liners won't rot or soak up any fluids and you can wipe it off with a terry cloth towel and water. Let me know if I can help you! If anyone's in the Detroit metro area I can even install it for you! Just so you know, the hood MUST come off for proper installation of the liner. This is not a big deal as there are only 4 bolts (10mm) holding the hood on. Why does the hood have to come off? The liner must be installed with 3M #80 adhesive and if you don't mask off areas then the glue will get onto places you don't want glue on, such as the windshield, the engine, fenders, cowling, etc. Plus gravity will work against you and your arms will get tired trying to work with them above your head. This liner is not stiff like the original, it's made of a SUPERIOR material and installing it with just the plastic hood pins and no adhesive is NOT recommended - the liner would sag in places not held down and can interfere with throttle linkage, pulleys, etc. If you have a helper then removal of the hood and installation back on the car with the new liner will take about an hour. You can lay your hood on a large worktable or a plywood on a couple of sawhorses, cushioned with some old blankets or sheets. I include instructions for both the liner and the decals, and in those instructions I provide my cell phone number if you need my help during installation. So far no one has called needing my help so it's not impossible to install my liner! I'm going to be placing a posting in the Classifieds section as soon as I can. Thanks,

Imagevenue large pics of my liners
Sometimes Imagevenue's servers aren't all that reliable but these should work!
The below images are of a 2005 Ford Mustang GT, I can now offer hoodliners for the 2005 through 2009 Ford Mustang. Click below for large 1024 x 768 images - they may not open in another window. Just hit your BACK button to come back. The owner of this 2005 Ford Mustang GT is the vice president of the Mustang Owners Club of Southeastern Michigan and he graciously allowed me to put my hoodliner on his IMMACULATE and PRISTINE, meticulously-kept Mustang GT. The hood was taken off and prepared for the liner installation. Needless to say he is VERY HAPPY with the way it came out! He bought some underhood "mirrors" for over $300 and decided to go with my liner instead. He told me he made the better decision to place my liner on instead of those mirrors, which he will be returning. In fact this Mustang might be featured in a Mustang magazine in the near future! Please send me a message if you have any questions! I thank Mike for allowing me to help him mod his awesome "1 BADD 05"!! Mike won an award in a modded class at a Mustang car show just after he had my liner with silver decal installed! http://img125.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_886lo.jpg http://img101.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_566lo.jpg http://img20.imagevenue.com/img.php?..._122_699lo.jpg http://img203.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_596lo.jpg http://img133.imagevenue.com/img.php...122_1082lo.jpg http://img247.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_423lo.jpg http://img126.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_744lo.jpg These below images are of a 2001 Ford Mustang GT hoodliner I made and installed in my driveway just recently. Click below for large images - they may not open in another window, just hit your BACK button to come back here. The owner is very happy with it and the way it came out! It shows the hood on my workbench (cushioned with old sheets/bedspreads to protect the paint), and also the peeling of the application tape on the vinyl decal. I really like the way it came out! http://img155.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_845lo.jpg http://img159.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_424lo.jpg http://img45.imagevenue.com/img.php?..._122_925lo.jpg http://img241.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_145lo.jpg http://img166.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_971lo.jpg Click these links for extra large jpeg images of the liners, the first 4 are of the 1987 to 1993 liners, the next 4 are of the 1994 to 1998 liners, the next 2 are of the 1995 to 1998 Cobra liners with a silver emblem, and the last 3 are of the SVO.
