from what ive read u can actually get tunes that are just as effective if not more effective from an XCAL than a dyno. reason being that dyno tunes are live and many times there's not enough time to cover as much as can be covered in the creation of a digital tune. check out Information Center <- this is where ill be purchasing a tune once i get my XCAL
also yea im sure u could pull some ponies and better gas mileage outta your car with a tune, even if it was simply stock |

there is no canned tune as good as putting your car on a Dyno. there are to man variables for this.

But my email tunes are not canned tunes. 95% of all the tuning can be done without a dyno. The dyno is only necessary for crazy combos, but even then i can get to about 95% of the max power without a dyno. Some of the best tuners in the nation prefer street / track tuning over dyno tuning because its exactly what the car is going to see. The dyno is good for posting up your hp for bragging rights.

You will not feel a noticeable gain unless you have an auto and that comes from the transmission tuning. They are easy to use and the only way to go, especially if you plan on modding more.

I will say Joe(trick tuners) will work with you, help with problems you may have(i have a few,and must say he has patience). only time will tell what he can do for me.
I don't think a few sessions on a dyno(at $150 an hour) will help people thru tuning issues more than a so called "canned tuner" with data logging can

well I talked to Doug myself at Bama chips and he said he would not sell me or recommend using any tune without having on a dyno since adding the vortech. I think you get the car close find you shop that will treat you right throw it on for an hour and fine tune it. as much money as I have invested whats another couple hundred to make sure shit is right.just my 2 cents.

dyno tunes are mostly for wot,I want a tune for part throttle driveability also.thats where a good tuner and datalogging plays an important part(with a wide band of course). for absolute power(on paper anyway) dyno is probably the best, you can see your torque curves, what rpm's you make most power, for shift points etc., but for most people part throttle is just as important, something a dyno tune is not going to help with much, imho

I agree a 100 % I want my car to run smooth in all areas. I would not just put it on a dyno and have it tuned for wot. You can tune at all levels on a dyno as well. All I know is my car is being tuned next weekend by kevin from Diablosport and Justin Burchman from JPC RACING. Thats about as good as it gets. I am very excited

Its not like the dyno is some magical tuning tool. Granted they are bad ass and the best way to get MAX power out of your combo without blowing it up, but people have been tuning cars on the street/track since cars were around, and plenty of motors have blown up on the dyno too. Even with email tunes you can get max power by loading different tunes with more timing (on a local dyno) until your hp gains are less than ~2%. When you see that your gain was less than 2% its always best to back out a couple more degrees to account for slight variations in senors over time. A few weeks ago I had a friend give me a ride in his recently dyno tuned (not by me) 505WHP mustang and it detonated like a SOB while i waved my arms and said Woa, woa, woa. Also with a $10 radio shack hearing thing you can make a detonation detector that is very sensitive. Link When using that (passenger hopefully) its as good as dyno tuning, except you dont get a print out for bragging rights. Turbo XS also makes a high quality knock light for use with the aftermarket bosch sensor. If you had the J+S safe guard knock protection system there would be no use for a dyno (as long as you had a track close by for testing). That thing is bad ass!

Do you use Diablosport or just sct ? So your telling me if I have a SCT tuner and give you all my mods supercharger included you can give me a tune that will make my car perform to its potential and smooth in between? You sound like a guy with a lot of knowledge I hearing what your saying and always willing to learn.
