How hard of an install??

I was going to put an Afco heat exchanger and a 2.80 pulley and new idler pulley in. Anyone have any experience with these and how hard is the install. The shop wantes to charge about $250 just for install for both. Should/can I do it my self??

the HE is simple.

you would need a puller for the pulley though

Is the HE just a simple, unbolt old...then bolt up new?? I don't mind having them do the pulley. I don't want to screw it up. And I also don't have the puller.

One more question...

Just so I'm understanding right...to flush the intercooler I just pump a bunch of water through it, let it all drain out. Then I mix the water wetter with more water and refill??
Are you suppossed to mix those 2 togehter before you put it in??

Everywhere I've seen you have to buy it so far. I think I could probably do the pullies but for the amount it would cost me to buy the tool and then the time to do it. The shop is only charging $80 to do it so I don't think it's too bad.

the HE, and idler are both very simple installs, and the pulley is too if you have a the correct eaton pulley puller

first off, dont get the AFCO, there are plenty of people having problems with them leaking, and they also dont have as big of a surface area as gords, or LFP. the gords however is i beleave about $400-500, so ive used a LFP dual pass on both of my cars with great success, its probably the highest recommended out there

LFP Extreme Dual Pass Intercooler Heat Exchanger 2003-04 Cobra [LFPDualHeat] - $289.95 : Lightning Force Performance

then as far as pulley, billetflow is the only way to go for both pulley's, and idlers, and the quality, and ease of swapping pulleys afterwards is simply amazing.

you can order strait from billetflow, and they also have a loaner puller they rent to you for $50, then you ship it to the next person that needs it. billetflow also makes the best idlers you can buy too.

BilletFlow: Home of Premium Billet Pulleys, Throttle Bodies and Accessories

they can also be purchased from

Lethal Performance, Performance Parts for Ford Mustangs, Cobras, Chevy Corvette C6, LS1

I believe you're a bit confused and only want to make sure people get the right information so they can make the right decision. There are no problems with the AFCO Dual Pass. They are by far the highest quality Dual pass as well as the first dual pass for the 03-04 Cobra that was released to the market. AFCO is a company that specializes in cooling products. They've been around way longer than most. You'll find that most others selling a dual pass actually copied AFCO's design which is why at this time the AFCO Dual Pass for the Shelby is the only Dual Pass available. Let's see who copies it and then sells that design next. Not the innovator but the copier. Out of the hundreds of AFCO Heat Exchangers we've sold I've never received one back. Not 1!

The only reason the LFP's is recommended is because of the price. They undercut the AFCO's pricing to take the business away. Copy something and sell it for less isn't too unfamiliar in the parts industry for some. Jared
