The deal is once the 4 bolts that hold the shifter plate onto the top of the trans that houses the shifter are removed, that's usually when the bitching and swearing starts. The plate and the shifter now appear to be stuck and the fun begins...

Got it all installed guys and it's great. I only took me about 40 minutes to do. And most of it was because I was doing it last night with a flashlight...lol! It isn't as short as I thought it might be but there is definately a difference and the shifting is ALOT stiffer.

It will smooth out a little after break in.

I just had the Tri-Ax installed on my 2004 and I really like it.

However, I notice a new noise coming from the shifter area that wasn't there at all when I had the stock shifter in place. Is this normal?

Yeah, you will hear more drive train noise...it scared me at first, but I did some research and found that it was okay.
