Ok, i have an ls1, possibly buying a mustang, im not considering an auto, im jw, why all the 04' and older mustangs slower when they have an automatic trans. Cuz i know as far as Fbodies go (and even the NEW mustangs) they are just as fast, if not faster, when they are auto vs. stick. So why exactly are the older mustangs slower with an automatic?

rule of thumb... 15% loss in a manual ... 20 % in an auto..

I beat manuals on a daily basis. a little tweaking on the auto and your good to go

i blame the 4 speed tranny and torque converter.. and specially the drivers who race on 'D' without having a shift kit

but ive never been beat by a 99-04 gt.. and ive raced 4.. several runs each.. the one who came closest had 10.5 drag radials lol i beat him by like 1 foot(his best) and car n a half(his worst) out of 5 runs... i was having fun till they brought out the shelby

The slush box is not as efficient as a mechanical connection. Autos can be very cool and will handle super high hp when built in the right configuration and tuned properly.

sorry man, the kids that drive the sticks in the LS1 must not know how to drive, because stock for stock with the same driver, a manual will out run a auto all day everday, and as for the 05 and up stangs, a auto is slower in them as well, and ive seen both of those for a fact for my self, on street races and at the track

i beg to differ. same driver could be shitty, or good. from a stop a auto will take a 5 speed every time in a GT with the same mods. but if both drivers are bad drivers, since the auto doesnt take mcuh skill other than putting your foot to the floor, the manual will lose.

i was talking more about, if both drivers were about the same skill, and knew what they were doing, so put it this way, if both drivers had good skills and knew what they were doing, the manual will take the auto

once again you dont know what your talking about, and just spout more BS.

you cant out shift a auto. if you race a equally modded auto from a stop then they're not racing, or you have more mods. mod for mod a auto will always take a stick from a stop, and a stick will almost always take a auto from a roll.

in a 300bhp car a manual will typically put 255HP to the tires, and a auto will put 240HP to the tires. a 15HP difference in a race is not going to cause one car to hardly pull the other, a bump in the road could cause one to accelerate slower. a faster shifting auto transmission is always better than a stick IMO, that auto has shifted faster than you can get the clutch pedal 1/2 way down.

average auto mach runs high 13s, manuels can run low 13s, i know for a fact that a manuel car will outrun a auto car in stock platform, autos dont always shift at the desired point, with a manuel it can be shifted at the best point for optimal time, manuel will be a auto stock for stock

you sir are an idiot, a stock mach 1 is not going to run low 13's, alot of 03 cobra's only run low 13's with the average driver.

so your telling me that if you put a mach 1 5 speed up against a auto 100% stock that is going to shift faster, and the 5 speed makes a WHOPPING 15-20RWHP more the 5 speed is going to beat it by over a half of a second. and that 5 speed mach is going to run that same speed a car that weighs a tad more, and has another 100RWHP will?

you need to go back to your little fantasy land. the same one that your living in that a month = a week. because thats the ammount of time that you have had your "....Mods going on in a week...." in your sig.

i dont really care about my sig, i really havent had the interest to change it, but i will just so i dont have to hear about it, and a stock mach can run 13.2-13.4, if you have a good set of tires,and check the times of those cars, there both right, and i didnt say you could shift faster then an auto, but you can outrun one stock for stock
