4.10's and FI
does anyone have 4.10's with a FI car? I know most likely there is not much traction.. but what if a very nice suspension system was on the car.. would it hook up with some 10.5's on the back and some 315's? I have 4.10's im installing next week but I plan on supercharging next fall. I dont want to have to pay the money now to buy 3.73's after I already have brand new 4.10's nor do I want to swap them after a year.

I ran 4.30's when I had nitrous... No issues with that. Sure it's a challenge to get traction, but some slicks will solve those problems, along with some mild suspension upgrades.

You can hook with ther right tires and suspension, but now the problem can become lack of gear. You REALLY don't want to have to make a reach for 5th gear in the 1/4.
Oh wait, do you have a Manual or Auto? |

5 spd. im ordering a sport box or launch box next week so I should have most suspension taken care of. Once I get all my suspension done I'm pulling the motor and putting in forged rods and pistons (thinking my crank will be fine at around 500hp). prob get some headwork p&p / valvejob and a stage 2 cam as well before i buy a blower. my ride has like 74k so I'm trying to get all my supporting mods done before going FI.

would getting new valves make a difference? or should I just clean up the old ones. I mean I know they have like oversizes valves and low clearance valves but I really dont know what the benifits are going to be? I'm trying to make the internals efficient as possible before FI.

4.10's are to steep in my opoinion. i have them and run a 125, i absolutely hate them. some guys here love them, it will be a personal preference thing. aftermarket valves swirl polished and usually are undercut and have a valve job. when doing the bottom end, you will rebalance the rotating assembly. stock crank will chrun out 600 no problem. there are a bunch of factors that will greatly affect what cam will be needed for your set up.

I have 4:10's with FI and its not bad my car is an auto though. I am going through the traps in the 1/4 pretty much at 5800 or so in drive.

valve job could be a couple different things. set back to stock settings if needed to be fixed for seating issues. then there is 3 angle, 5 angle, undercut, larger valves, swirl polishing, etc that can be done on valves. most aftermarket valves come with at least a 3 angle and most of the time undercut and swirl finish. some of the aftermarket valves come with a 5 angle, and the older heads come along a lot of other things that can be done as far as performance valves are concerned.
