Oil pressure gauge

What causes the gauge to read no pressure at cold startups sometimes and when I rev it it goes up then drops back off until the engines warm. the sender? how could I fix it.

that same thing happened to my ford truck it turned out to be the cluster just not responding to the signal. i had the shop replace the sender and such and it worked for a while but just came back. so they took the cluster out and found a lose connection.

i had the same problem with my 01 and the dealer couldnt figure it out they changed the cluster and sending unit and it ended out being the wire in the circuit to the cluster that had a break in it they just undid the wire solder it together and it was done

I would imagine that you have corrected this by now. But I just wanted to let you know that i was having a similar problem with mine. I could crank mine in the morn, and have good pressure, then as soon as it warmed up, pressure would drop when it was at an idle. Then, after the car had been running for about an hour or so, it was good, idling or not. So, I replaced the sending unit and havent had any problems since. It is located right next to the oil filter, cant miss it.

Be careful, my car had no oil pressure upon a cold start and it ended up starving the valve train of oil which in turn made for some nasty noises...good thing I turned it off to prevent further damage. That was after the car sat for a week in sub 20 temperatures though.
