I'm pretty sure that they are 2.5...when i did my pipes we just like cut section at a time out and welded the new parts on...first came the cat back...then came the x-pipe...then the hi flow cats came on wich eventually lead to no cats with strait pipes going into the x.

I've never heard them before. They are louder than the flowmaster? Do they pass emissions?

I believe the stockers are 2.25". Measure them before you order your muffs.

Do you measure the diameter or circumference?

yes and yes. if you get a set of flows or something along that line its not gonna be as loud as some would think...for example a 40 series flowmaster will be deep but the "loudness" of the pair will be quite modest compared to say the bullits or an SLP set up. if you were to go with like hi flo cats since u wanna pass emissions, with an x or h mid pipe going into a couple of 40 series flowmaster mufflers it would be loud and it would sound awsome!

Any suggestions as to where to get mufflers? I've gone to the flowmaster site, and see that they list for about $113 there, but have looked on ebay and froogle, and found them for about half that price Am I missing something?

I'm also not totally sold on flowmasters - I just want something deep and loud!

Yeah bro they'll pass, you might want to look into the Magnaflow Magnapacks they sound nice too. For the sound that you want you will want to go with the SLP, Race bullets or Magnapacks. All will have a deep and loud sound to them.
