Short Throw Shifter
whats the best short throw shifter for my 99 GT. I bought my friends who took it off an 03 Mach. i tried putting it on but it wouldn't work properly. the shifter was a Steeda Tri Ax. was it the wrong one for mine or did i instal it wrong? which kind should i get? thanks

Your 99 has a T-45 and the Mach has a TR3650, they're not interchangeable. I like my Steeda Triax, each shifter (Pro 5.0, UPR, etc.) has a different feel so just go with what you prefer. I drove a Pro 5.0 shifted car and a Triax and prefer the feel of the Triax.

well if you have car running some quick numbers its needed. 3rd gear with the stock tranny, when you go to speed shift, your gonna miss it. anyone who says this mod is no wrth it is crazy. i consider it to e one of the first mod a a person should do to their car. if you ever driven one with a short throw shifter, youd know exactly what we are talking about. there is a 100x better throw with the short throw, and its safer for those rushed shifts. your more likely gonna hit 3rd and not way over rev your motor. but you go ahead and continue to think that way.

Same here the Tri Ax is one of the best mods I have bought for my 99 GT. Before I had it I would sometimes miss third and only over-revved once and after that I bought the Tri Ax and haven't had a problem since!!!!

its just that the stock shifter is so sloppy. some people think its okay because they have never driven a car with the short shifter in it, and ill tel you its a huge difference. i would never keep a stock shifter in longer than i had to. they suck ass.

I test drove an 03 cobra with a short throw in it before I got my Mach. Really like the feel of the short throw, just haven't gotten around to replacing mine yet. Will probably do it sometime soon.

ive never missed 3rd...ive messed up once or twice racing...i went from 3rd to 2nd once...that was bad and scared the shit outta me..i was at the redline on 3rd. maybe in the future i'll look into it, or i'd have to drive in a car with one.
