Drag Strategy

a friend of mine told me the other day not to floor the gas pedal when i take off after the light....he says wait till i gain enough traction to where my tires are not spinning and then punch it....well how to i know when exactly to punch it...do ya'll use this strategy or do you just punch it when you see the 3rd yellow light?

if you are running street tires and have bad wheelspin that will help but if your not having wheelspin issues and/or running drag radials or slicks hammer time! i see you have sticky-icky tires, what are you running? how was your 60ft? any track vids?

With the d/r's if you doing a burnout good enough to bring some heat into them, nail it. On a prepped track, I doubt you're gonna have traction issues.

On street tires you will want to avoid the water box. Do just a quick burn out to clean off the tires, too much and they will get greasy. Bring up your rpms to 2500 and slip the clutch as you are applying the gas. It is a delicate balance but I have some 2.0s short times on Gatorbacks. That is not all that fantastic, I know several guys that can consistently get 1.9s on Skaterbacks. It can be done but you really have to feel it.

For drag radials, drop the pressure down to around 20-25 psi. Do a good smoky burnout and move your launch rpms up until you are getting a little bit of spin. A little is good. The most important thing is to document what you have done and adjust accordingly. Once you find what works for you and your car, tweak it until you are comfortable with it. Have fun and be safe.

i have Nitto extreme drags on my car too!! the best launch on them is to heat em up w/ a quick burn out and let the car launch at right around 4000 rpms/ even mabye 3800 and your car should hook up. Also look at your tire pressure in teh back, your gonna want it lower than it says. mine say 44 i put em around 36psi. good luck. if you drive it right you should hit high 13's.
