Gas Pedal

Just curious as to how many members did the accelerator pedal mod. mine was annoying the hell out of me so i finally ended up doing it today. Not really a major mod, but now it feels alot better. I used one of the screws from a bike hat have the little groove in it.

mustangworld gas pedal shortening for 99-00 model mustangs. the gas pedal is about 1" in from the brake, making heel/toe difficult

you just remove some slack in the throttle cable at the pedal to move the pedal back to match the brake pedal. just reach down and pull the pedal toward the rear of the car, and take up the slack.

Yea apparently Ford puts slack on your gas pedal as a safety feature, Well i ran into the problem that whenever i went all the way down on the pedal it would get caught on the floormat, so i raised it up using a spacer. Mustangworld has a how to on this. Its a simple thing, but helps a lot and makes things a lot more comfertable.

the screw if for brake cables on bicycles. it has a slit in the side and is threaded to hold a cable through it. you can get different lengths and pull the slack accordingly.

i havent done this mod though, because the last thing i want to do is break the throttle cable and not be able to get somewhere

You know the screws at the end of the braided cables on bikes. I took one of those. It got a small groove in the screw right under the head, i put it around the throttle linkage on the pedalafter raising the pedal to a comfertable height. And i clamped the screw head down a little so it became a tight fit, put a washer and a nut on it and that was it. Ill try to find a pic of the piece im talking about

Thats basically it, except the one i used is a drop different, its got a groove right under the head as opposed to this one having a hole. But theyre basically the same thing
