Question About Heads
I used the search function before posting this just to make sure there wasn't already a thread answering this question. I didn't find any, but I am not above admitting that I may have done it wrong. So, if there is already a thread about this then I apologize.
Basically what I am wondering is if anyone can give me an idea of how much the average port and polish job on a set of PI 2v heads will run? The reason I'm asking this is because I am wanting to see if it would be cheaper than buying a set from like Patriot Performance or DSS or wherever. I'm all about saving me some money!

Im no expert on 4.6's but I do have very close connections to Brian Tooley at Total Engine Airflow. He wrote and sold the CNC program to TFS and DSS for almost all of their CNC'ed heads they sell (to include the 4.6 heads)
In my last conversation with him, I asked him if TFS had anything in the works with reguards to making an after market head for the 4.6's. He said to me that he and TFS have spent countless hours trying to develop a head that flows as well as the Patriot Performance head at a compariable price. They have not been able to do it in the last year and a half. So what Im basicly saying is...the Partriot head is one of the best 4.6 head on the market, for the money...hands down. If your willing to pay a few hunderd more, TEA's (Brian's) heads outflow Patriots and come with all the same hardware. Here is the link to TEA's web site... http://www.totalengineairflow.com/pr...ad/ford46pi2v/

I dont know hwo much the work would run you but from what I have read and seen Patriot Heads are not the best...
Search Patriot Heads on www.modularpowerhouse.com and read what they think of them... Steen Racing does a good job working heads from what I have seen...So google Steen Racing and go to the site and read what they have...I would point you directly but it is blocked for me over here...But from what I have heard the stock heads can be worked to be very good at flowing... A good aftermarket head is the Modular Powerhouse Stage 2.5 and my own personal favorite the VT Stage 2 head...I went with the VT stage 2 heads myself... |

patriot only had problems when they first came on the scene. they have had no big problems as of lately and have fixed everything that was wrong. when i do my turbos, i will have some more work done to my heads and the guy who does them is not cheap at all, and he charges 1200 for labor but is one of the best out there. he handports them. a well thought out and executed hand port job, will outflow a cnc head all day long and make a shit ton mroe power. but if your wanting to save money, the patriot is a great way o go. dss heads are way over priced in my opinion

Thanks for the info everyone. I think I will look into the Steen Racing deal since they are in Norfolk and I will be moving there in February. I would rather deal with someone local than to have to deal with shipping and all that noise. It seems that either way it's going to be over a grand, so I guess I will just have to suck it up. No one said modding a car is cheap, right?
