Timing Adjustments On Hand Held Tuner


hey guys how do i adjust the timing with my tuner...i know that i'm getting some detination so do i retard the timing or advance it....and how much?

Usually you can add / subtract across the RPM band... exactly how depends on the tuner but you should have a manual for it. If not, some have simply a few styles (aggressivness) to choose from, you'll need to run higher octane fuel or run a milder tune.

ANy timing over 10* you have to run no less then 91 octane...
Check the manual and you should be able to get it...

i only 93 octane...thats what RWTD set my tunes for.

yea its a handheld tuner xcal2...i know that i've got the software cd that i can upload the tunes to to adjust timing(or whatever else i need to adjust..gear ratio etc)...i just need to know if i should retard the timing or advance it and how much.

Can you call your tuner and ask because the tuner can tell you for sure what to do...

i'm not sure what you mean by handled or fixed....i called the tuners already and theyre suppose to send me a new tune this week but i dont wanna wait around for it cuz my gears go in tomorrow.

I was wondering if you changed the timing yet...

Retarding the timing is what the PCM does to get rid of knock so I would say that you should do the same...
