Heeltoe is pretty easy, just takes some practice. Pedal covers help alot. Also if you can't turn your foot like that you can roll it over to the side, thats what I do.

not only is it for faster downshifting. but it keeps your rpms up. so you dont lose speed. a good shifter can shift before the rpms fall. now granted you go from 3rd to 4th its going to drop naturally once its in gear bot the object is to have it in the next gear and clutch out before the rpm drops. correct me if im wrong. oh and by the way when i downshift i usualy push in the clutch give it a little rev depending on which gear i want to downshift to and it usually matches. if u go from 4th to second your going to need a bigger rev.. and so on..

That article is amazing. Thanks man. thats exactly what i needed. Im going to finish reading it in school today if i get a chance. Im standardize testing all week. FUN FUN.

anyway all i have read so far is the stuff i was trying to explain to you guys. But this is exactly what i ment or was trying to explain......

"You may have not noticed, but there is a lot of slack built into your Mustang's accelerator pedal. To see how much, lift up on the accelerator pedal. You should be able to lift it by about 1 inch. For some reason, Ford made the accelerator pedal much deeper than the brake and clutch. This makes it extremely difficult if not impossible to do heel and toe driving. It also increases the odds that you are not achieving wide open throttle when you mash the pedal because the floor gets in the way."

i did that on my car...it kinda sucks bc u have to have ur seat close enough so that u can press the clutch pedal all the way in but since the gas pedal sticks up farther ur knee is in the steering wheel so i removed it the same day...the gas is touchy as shit though

I rev match nearly all downshifts, even driving my jeep. The main purpose of a heel toe is so that you do not lock up the tires during the downshift while in a corner and upset the suspension. I do it differently than the video and use the center of my foot on the brake with my toes pointed up and to the right, and blip with the outside edge of my foot. (with big feet this is even easier, but i am size 10) My foot does not bend enough to use my toe on the brake and my heel on the gas. I have found that the pedals line up just right when you are hard braking (when its most important).

When you fixed yours did you do it the same way that Link showed you with the hoses and such. And do you happen to have any pictures of the install when you had it done. its ok if you dont. the pic in that link is not too clear.

i did that mod on my car a while back, only i used one of the extra plastic threaded inserts that come with shift knobs. i'm kind of a pack rat; i keep all kinds of crap that comes with parts just because i don't know when i might need to use them for something else. but i did that mod and it helped. it took a little getting used to having the throttle closer to my foot than before. don't have any pics, but i can tell you that it does help. it's a little easier to heel- toe, but the pedals still don't line up perfect, even though they are a lot closer now...

i used to slow down by down shifting without rev matching because my cousin said it puts less stress on the brakes. he also told me if the tranny could take the power of an engine accelerating the way we do then it sure as hell can take the stress of slowing the vehicle down. ive found since reading up this isnt true really, and it can hurt your tranny. do i still downshift to slow down? yup, but not as drastically as i may have before. I use my brakes a lot more now. The only time I rev match is if I'm downshifting to accelerate. u dont want to drop from 3rd to 2nd or 4th to 3rd and see the tach go from idle to 4000 RPMS lol, at least I'm not comfortable with it anyways.

This is kind of weird to me. I grew up driving semi trucks and tractors for the family business and I am used to using the gears to slow me down. I downhsift so this the complete opposite, but if this is proper than I'm definately going to learn this. I just won't be doing this with loaded gravel trains, because that won't be pretty.

When i heel toe i actually do it the opposite way.

My heel is on the break and my foot is on the gas (just like a burnout)... i got used to it by now, so i can controll it perfectly... but for all of you that are thinking about doing it this way, DO NOT 1ST TRY IT WITH SOMEONE IN FRONT OF YOU!!! you will most likely it them cuz the position and feel isnt natural. Practica a bunch on a course or in a bigass parking lot.

yeah im really looking forward to doing this. I actually tried to do it yesterday but its such a little space its really hard to do. So i need to get a 2nd hand to help me out. Plus my Hose clamp is way too big. I gotta find something smaller. Im going to re-attempt to do this tomorrow.

Me too I think you guys should go try it out before you move the gas pedal up. While you are hard on the brakes they line up perfectly. If you are not hard on the brakes the gas will seem too low, but there is no point to H/T then.
