Need Wheel Help

i'm thinkin' about puttin 18x12in rims on the back of my car and 18x9 on the front. what i'm wondering is if any1 has ever tried to or has put a 12in rim on a stock GT? i really don't want to have to go to mini-tubs but i will if i have to.

these are the rims i'm getting.

Wow those rims are pimp (what kind are they)! Although I must say, I don't think theirs a chance in hell to fit 12" rims under a Mustang unless you do some serious work. Why not go with 10" rims on the rear, it'll look better IMO and save alot of time and $$.

well the main reason i want 12's is because my 10.5 saleens won't hold 750+ rwhp and i don't want to run drag radials or slicks all the time, not that 12's are gonna make it hook like D/R or slicks will but it'll help.
i'm wantin' to go with a 335/35/18.

they're Asanti AF118's (gun metal/chrome)

im sure they'll fit, because i highly doubt that 10.5s are all you can fit. you just need to make sure the offset and all that is right

i measured from the studs to the inner fender and its about 9.25in that leaves about 3in for the lip. its gonna be reeeeal close. i'm just trying to actually find some1 thats done it or tried to cuz i doubt they'll take the wheels back after they've had tires on'em and put on a car.

I have 10.5"s and they're great. You REALLY want 12's?

the MAIN reason i want 12s is to keep from having to run drag radials or slicks on 15s all the time.
also i want to keep the stance i got and still be able to hook up a little better than 10.5's do. i got 10.5's (295/35/18) on my saleen wheels but even with the 450rwhp i got now it'll burn'em all the way thru 2nd. i can imagine what its gonna do with 750rwhp i'm gonna have.

Do you know of anyone else that has done this? Pictures? I'd be very interested to see how this looks, costs, and handles...

no i don't thats the whole reason for this thread. not to sound like a smartass.

i got this mental picture of how i think its gonna look and its gonna be pretty fackin sweet! just imagine standing behind a lowered GT with 335/35/18 with those rims....matter of fact i need to go to www.wheelenvizio.com and see what its gonna look like with those rims.

You could run drag radials on the 10.5...

I would go with a 10.5 but if you want a 12 inch tire you could make it fit with some fenderwell love and the right back spacing...

So how much "fenderwall love" would that require? i.e. cost, man-hours, etc...

I have rolled fenders before...Its not that tough...You can do it yourself...

But I think for that size tire there might be laittle bit more love then usual involved...

I don't know what all is involved in rolling a fender... what is the process?

You're out in the desert right, can you say where? You seem like you have a decent Internet connection out there. Are you in Bahrain?

Way #1
Get a pair of sheet metal nips and cut 1/4 to 1/2 inch tabs accross the whole fender lip then use a dead blow hammer and gently fold the tabs back. This will make it much easier.

Way #2
The bat was an old trick, you put the bat between the tire and the inner fender. Then you roll the car very carefully, while the car rolls the bat gets sandwhiched between the tire and fender which then bends the fender. This is a very old way to do it and i found that some cars are so lowered the bat wont fit between them. Get the tool to do the job correctly and make sure you heat the paint or it will crack.

Way #3
You can rent a fender roller from different places...Normally about $50 plus a $200 deposit and you have to pick up the shipping both ways...

I am at Al Udeid...Its not bad...I sit in front of a computer for about 12 or so hours a day so I have lots of time to search the net...
