why whould you do that?
it'll cost $140-$150 for either gear and $200 to install and more to tune unless you have the SCT XCAL2

why whould you pay another $400 later...just get 3.73's now

well the reason i wanted to do that is because people say that 4.10s are better and for now i wont have the money for a s/c so i wanted to do them. Me and my dad have already taken my rearend apart for bearing work so i think we can do the gear install also. So thatll save me a lil money. Will 4.10s be that much different from 3.73s?

yes, ive driven a v6 with 3.73 and another v6 with 4.10s both pretty much had same mods
but the 4.10s are much different.

like now you have 3.27..i think if you get 3.73 you'll notice a difference..its lik a .40 ratio diff...same with the 4.10s to 3.73s

I would say, bottom line, if you're going to get an s/c later, get the 3:73's. If not, go with 4:10's.

If you have an auto I would say 4.10's all the way...

if the car is a drag car most of the time. do the 4:10 gears. if i didnt drive my car alot for road trips and such, i would have done 4:10 rather than 3:73. the centri blowers love the rpm's lol

Have any of you guys actually driven a blown car with 4.10's, especially a centrifugal blower? I have, in fact I run a Vortec SQ and 4.10's.... and I'll probably be going with 4.30's soon.

First gear is no different than a non-blown Mustang... plenty useful. The more gear the better... so long as you can live with the highway RPM or the revs coming through the traps at the strip.

Oh, for what it's worth... I listened to the hype too. I had 4.10's NA and when I added the blower I dropped to 3.73's. Two weeks later I put the 4.10's back in.

You guys know that centrifugals don't make much more power than stock until around 3,000 rpm right? Meaning until you get the revs up and are full throttle then you really need the gears to get you going. It's not like a torque monster Kenne Bell, where you'd want the 3.73's because you're not good enough to handle the power.

i had 4.10 in my cobra with a vortech and i truly thoguht it was to much gear. it launched and accelreated very ahrd but on the street, 1st gear was useless and very very short. 1st gear went to like 17 mph. crossing the line on the strip in 5th gear at 5500 rpm. top speed of around 130. its your car do what you want with it but imho, i think 4.10 and a blower on a 2v motor is too much gear. its all what your gonna be doing with the car. i have 3.73 in my current car and i think its the perfect gear for a centrifugal blower, but thats MY opinion

yea, i guess everyone's different on how they like to drive...i personally would rather have a longer 1st gear to avoid over-revving and lower RPMs on the top end...

My first gear right now is hard enough as it is... with 10.5's in the back I spin VERY easily, but then again I have street tires on them right now. I'm afraid first gear will be very useless when I get the s/c.

it will be untill you get out on the track with some stickies. when i had my blower on my car, with those eagle f1, 1,2, and the first of third were pretty useless. and if you really tried, you could break em lose way up in 4th gear
