aluminum flywheel


I was told alum flywheels were good for road racing ..now there using them for drag racing .I figure they hurt 60 ft time..this will be my next mod..jayc lets here it, your running one ..his 60 ft.time 1.5...11.50 qt...all stock with nitrous

Alum for road racing! Billet steel for drag racing, you always want that hole shot, and you cant get it with Alum. Steel and an Alum drive shaft is the set up

My guess would either be not enough inertia, or It's to soft to handle the hard launches.

Another internet myth. If you were to check the mod list of the top running N/A 2-valve cars (as I did) you would see that they all run an aluminium flywheel as I do. I adjusted my launch by about 200 rom and lost nothing on the 60'. The car does rev quicker in each gear and it's a hell of a lot easier on the drive train. Find out what the fast guys use and go from there
