Can You Put A 4.6 4v Into A 99-04 GT? Without Spending Tons
Is it possible to do a 4.6 2v to 4.6 4v swap in a 99-04 gt?

Sure, find a donor car or a complete engine, ecu, and harness. It's not worth it in my opinion, for the cost of doing all that you can supercharge (and more) your GT and blow past an '03 / '04 Cobra.

agreed. Im currently looking at what to do to my GT & i can verify.. the price aint worth it. so much canbe done to our 2vs that will get them to wake up.
for $2700 you can have a brand new built engine for that GT that is rated 600Hp. Then toss an extra 2500 on there for a good super charger. Your now at the cost of a STOCK Mach1 4v.

Yes you can do this...
1. You need a 4V...Then install it... 2. You need the injectors off the 4v...Then you need to splice them into your GT harness 3. Get the 4V maf or an aftermarket on calibrated to the 4V...Then splice that in place of your GT maf 4. Get a 4V tune burned on a chip for you GT 5. Then you are good to go... Im sure there are some minor things also but this is the biggies... |

if your wanting to make a ton of power its very worth it, but its not gonna be cheap. its hard to make 700+ hp with a 2v but relativly easy and a lot easier on a 4v motor. the 2v just dont flow much air at all. its pathetic. a fully ported set of 2v heads will barely outfolw a completely stock set of ls1 heads. the 4v make it a lot easier to cram more air into the engine

well if you put the 4v heads on the 2v block youll have to have some holes drilled and tapped for the extra timing components but its expensive but worth it if you want to make a ton of power

I thought it was the front covers that you had to use from the 4V took care of that...Never hold of having to tap anything for the heads...The blocks are the same...
I could be wrong though...It would not be a first time... If it was me I would just pick up a 4V from a Mach or Cobra and drop it in rather then swapping heads and such... |

Ha, I wonder if I could pull the 4V from my '98 Mark VIII and drop it in a Mustang pretty easily... that would be funny.

Yeah people actually use the 4V out of the Mark's quite often...You have to use a cobra or mach1 intake set-up but you could use the motor...
You could make a nice little sleeper out of the 1998 Mark VIII though...I always wanted to make a sleeper out of one...I think they look awesome... |

Mine is for sale right now, but believe me, it's very tempting to dump a shit ton of money into and make it a sleeping monster. Right now I just have a high flow air filter with a Predator chip in it, tuned, and sensor lowered, and it's pretty quick. A huge difference with the chip and a tune, it shifts so much faster now than it did before, when it was a slow granny shift. I drive the crap out of it, it's actually fun to drive, just kindof big and heavy. I saw a guy on a Mark VIII forum I go to every so often and he has a 97 LSC that ran a 13.8 1/4, not bad for a Mark VIII.
