Hey I got a 99 gt with aftermarket hids. I'm having problems that the headlights won't turn on at all. I checked the grounds and good, the bulbs are good, and I just put new ballasts in, but still nothing. Fuses are good, what would be the problem? I'm going to try and replace the headlight switch, they are 25 bucks at Napa. But should I also try the turn signal switch? Or should I just try the headlight switch first? Thanks
Maybe remove the HIDs and see if normal bulbs work in there? You might also need a relay. I have personally seen issues (in other cars) where the HID bulb turns on but then turns off after a moment and a relay fixed that.
I also wouldn't recommend putting HIDs in a normal halogen housing because the light pattern is allover the place.
Are yours bixenons? The po of my 02 gt installed hids and after a few days I noticed they stopped working. I tried everything I could think of then realized the multifunction switch got pushed forward like to turn the brights on but my hids dont have brights...
Op mine did the same thing until I ran the ground directly to the battery, fast forward a couple years and there doing it again and sometimes won't turn on at all. A buddy thinks it's my ballasts.
Sorry, relay harness. It wires the HID ballasts directly to the battery instead of going through the electrical system. You still get the on/off through the headlight plug but power comes directly form the battery.
I had to use one on an old car I used to have but I haven't needed one on my 03 mustang.
So I replaced the ballasts, bulbs are good, grounds are good, and I also replaced the headlight switch in the car. Also, i do have bixenons, so I do have high and low beams. The only thing left is the relay harness. Im getting that shipped out and hopefully that does the trick
Where did you wire your hids into? I have no problems with my hids wired into the stock harness.
