As with any street tire, the minimum tread depth allowed by law is (I think) 1/16th. I drove my Nittos though until they were completely bald... and then some

I run Nitto drag radials on my car. It is not my dd. If this is your first experience on drag radials use extreme caution in rain. Since they don't have alot of tread, there is not alot to channel the water away. They are very apt to kick out on you with too much throttle.

I've got the BFG drag radials and I always worried about driving in rain with them.
Until one night driving home from the dragstrip it poured like cats & dawgs. I was about 50 miles from home and started to white knuckle it for a while. Low and behold they worked fine.

The BFGs seem to work pretty good in the rain for a drag radial. I have driven in the rain on my Nittos as well. It can be done but you have to use caution and be very deliberate about accelerating and braking. You do those things and don't use excessive speed and you will be fine.

I'd say that the tires sound like they had been over inflated. Are they your daily drivers or strip tires?

I run my Mickeys in the rain. Some people call me stupid. Can't be scared.
