Smooth out Heads or not?

I have a set of 04 pi heads with 25k on em and they have all new valve seals and were steam cleaned. The intake and exhaust ports seem to have rough ports i guess from the factory(like a bad cats tounge). Would it be bad to take a low grit sand paper and smooth these things out? I not going crazy and not reshaping the ports or anything like that. Just smoothing them out to where my fingers will reach. I could get any left over shavings with a shop vac so not worried about that. Just wondering if it would be a bad thing at all.

i would just leave them, you can really mess up in that area of the head, if there extra heads i would just take them and get them P&P'd

It won't hurt to smooth the exhaust side of the runners. However, don't smooth the intake side.

Why dont you wanna smooth out the intake side would that have bigger gains?

I know they make sanding kits for a drill or rotary tool to do your own port and polish.

Smoothing the intake runners will nothing but harm to your a/f mixture. You need some tumble effect to get the liquid fuel to mix well.

You have to be carefull when smoothing the intake side. It has to be rough for a good air/fuel mixture. Too smooth and your mixture is going to be rich as hell. This should be left to a professional.

With the exhaust side you wont have problems if you smooth it.

It wont be same fuel since you wont have ridges to hold some of the fuel for the mixture
