question about head units!!

do any of the newer mach 460 head units have RCA input or output ports?? i have a harmon/kardon ipod hookup in my car and it goes through the radio and pisses me off because its not stereo and it has some static. the kit came with input cables but my head unit doesn't have them so i was wondering if some ot the newer mach units had inputs! like a satellite cd changer/dvd player input??? thanks!

Only the '04 ones had sattalite inputs. To swap one in you would need a conversion harness (the '04s use a different harness and any good stereo shop could make one using two Metra or similar harnesses) and the input adaptor (from Crutchfield) and you would be set. Or you could just change out the hang-up-broken-prone stock unit for an aftermarket one with an aux in (or better iPod control).

I went through a similar dilemma a few months ago. By the time you find an '04 mach head unit, get a harness custom made and hook it all up, you will have spent all this money and time to still have a stock stereo. I got a 50wX4 Alpine unit for around $160 with the ipod control hookup for another $30, and the Metra harness for I think $20. It sounds way better than stock and allows me to run the ipod and subs (and later satellite or hd if i want). Make sure you get one with a high pass filter (I think all alpines and some others have em) though so you don't blow out your tweeters!

USA SPEC DF-FORD20 Adapter

Enjoy maximum possible sound quality when you play your portable music through your Ford's factory radio. USA SPEC's DF-FORD20 adapter lets you connect your portable music player directly to your compatible 1996-up Ford factory radio. Just plug the adapter cable into your radio's CD changer input, mount the interface box, and you're ready to listen to your tunes.
And it gets better — if you also have another sound source you want to hook up to your Ford's sound system, the DF-FORD20 provides a second set of connections for an iPod, satellite radio tuner, or DVD player. You can switch between sources with your factory radio controls. Warranty: 1 year.
Note: You may also need to purchase a pair of universal DIN tools to remove your factory radio. Please enter your vehicle information or call a Sales Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this adapter is compatible with your vehicle.

also try the FoMoCo modulator
it has left and right RCA jacks . a remote connector with a power switch to control the unit.
The remote end has a 1/8" stereo jack and it comes with a short stereo cable.
