Reliable modding...

Alright, so I know that you lose a bit of reliablility with certain mods, but I had a question about a couple things. What kinda of supporting mods would be recommended if I get cams? I definitely don't want to throw a rod or anything, but I've never really gotten into modding internals before. Any help is great!

with cams you shouldn't blow a rod. you wont get anywhere near the power limit of the rods
cam supporting mods would be new valve springs, and a GOOD TUNE, with a safe rev limiter. the tune is the most important in my book

Im in the process of doing heads, cams, and exhaust. I went with 270s with fully ported heads. Hopefully will get the heads tomorrow or this week.

u dont have to take the heads off to swap cams. but with most cams u would want springs, tune, headers (LT), if u get crazy with the cam profile then u need to get better flowing heads, if u get a mild cam profile, u can get away with just a good tune, but if u get crazy with it, u will run in to piston to valve issues, and u would want diffrent gears, better flowing heads, better flowing exhaust, new valve springs.... depends on what kinda cams u want

yea, I dont epect so much power to throw a rod, but I figured while they are that deep in, might as well get anything I would need, just to be safe. Ill have to look into porting the heads though! Im probably not going to go too crazy though. I want to keep at least 1 cat to kinda keep the smell down also.

it dosnt smell that bad with no cats, and i dont know about WV but i would run no cats if u can, and and if u want to be safe just change out the whole valvetrain for stronger parts, and also the reliability of the car will not go down any at all if the work is done right
