Also, make sure you get them started back in correctly and dont over tighten them. When i did mine i tightened up real slow after reading on here about people stripping plug holes out. OR!! plugs blowing out later after a plug swap.
Im pretty sure i put autolite double platinum in (thats all they had) and it seems to like them. Im going to try a diffrerent plug next time to see if i feel a change. Just go slow and take your time and you will be finished going oh! that wasnt too bad

The above pics show the fuel rail off, but I guess I will try it without taking them off tomorrow. While I am in there, will upgrading the cop's make a difference?

mikevm with your mods you are not going to notice a difference in any spark plug.
power (whatever the rest of your sn is) changing the spark plugs is not a difficult task, but after reading this post (and i mean no offense) you might want someone that has a little background to help you out....pretty hard to mess up, but still good to have someone there that knows how to do it. |

well does your car start, idle, run...no miss fires, hesitation, pre detonation (backfire) etc...if it runs good, your plugs are fine. Most of the time plugs are just a personal brand preference. Some swear by ngk others say autolite is fine. Once you get some bigger mods done to the car, then worry about plugs.

Sounds good saving money. One more question before I am square, stock temp or cooler plugs? Hope that wasn't covered already cuz I didn't go back over the thread.

Just figured i'd throw this in here about the COPs
Back in the day of the distributor world, it was highly recommended to get bigger plug wires, and a better distributor...which is still recommended on that setup. The voltage fed to the plugs was generated by the distributor then sent off (distributed) to the plugs...there is loss (resistance) between the distributor and the plug...that is why the bigger plug wires were a big help, they lowered the amount of loss. On our cars we run a COP setup...the distributor is replaced by sensors feeding the PCM telling the individual COPs to fire at a certain time. Between the pcm and the COP is just two 18 gauge wires....everything is amped up at the COP (cop is basically a transformer) and then fed directly to the plug. This setup causes very little loss, and no need for an aftermarket setup. |
