what are some of your opinions on the different tuners out there.
SCT
Diablo, etc

why would one choose a specific mfg over another. i see that theres some customizable ones and some that come with several tunes installed and others you have to purchase the tunes later.

this question relates to a 4.6 GT, CAI, flowmasters and thats it for now.
in the future O/R H, maybe different wheels and tires, maybe different exhaust. and definately gears.

how can you tell what gears are in it now?

I would say Scat for the tuner as there are more places that sell them & tune them.
As far as the rear gears there should be a tag on the rearend with that info & maybe on the door jamb.

go with sct once i get my replacement phone in i have a number of an amzing tuner you could use to program it he tuned a few of my buddies cars i was gunna use him but out of my price range pm me for more info

Both are decent devices in the hands of a good tuner. I like SCT, but that may be because i dont sell diablo. Hit me up if you decide to go with SCT and want a full custom tune.

I'm an SCT fan as well, those guys really know their sh*t and have most dealers have some pretty darn good mail order tunes.

thanks everyone for your opinions....except whtpny, all i wanted was some opinions on what people have bought, to search the forums brings in a ton of other items, trust me. i did it. great info there thats for sure. but i wanted opinions on what benefits from one or the other. most of what i found were questions specific to individuals cars.

do most of you guys with basic mods (bolt ons) just run the preloaded tunes?

oh, on the gear thing, im wondering if a previous owner changed the gears. i will have to jack it up and spin the wheels, should get me there shouldnt it? as long as the change wasnt real subtle.

I have the Diablo, while it's a great product. I have nothing but good things to say about it. There aren't very many Diablo dealers here where i can get a custom tune. I would say if you're just going to do bare minimal than the Diablo is fine. Otherwise get the SCT. HMUSN can hook you up with SCT Programmers. PM him, and tell him your mods, he'll get you on the right track.

another good idea is to see what the performance shops in your area use, that way you dont buy tuner A and find out that a shop that uses tuner A is 200 miles away but there is a shop 10 minutes from you that uses tuner B..
