New Here ... Need Some Tips For 01 GT
Hey im new to this site and mainly any other forums... so this is a first...
well 1st off im 17 years old but i do know alot about cars and mustangs... its been my dream car sense i was about 13 and drove my uncles GT around the block.. so with that said ... i need some help deciding on what to do... i just bought a 2001 Mustang GT after years of anticipation and im looking to do some small things to it... my limit is around 1000 considering i am only 17 and i'll be paying for some of the car and all the upgrades myself ( yes i do have a job and im not spoiled ) so i was thinking an aftermarket exhaust maybe.. i want to hear the rumble.. and being a teenager i want everyone's attention.. lol.. which is the best type and where can i cget it somewhat heep.. and if theres any money left over what else should i do? thanks |

the best performance upgrade for these cars in my opinion is gears and a tuner. but of course it is always nice to hear the v8. if you want to be really loud go with slp loudmouth catback exhaust. or flows with a o/r x pipe sounds good and is plenty loud also. but if you really want to make a big difference in acceleration get some gears for about 150 and get them installed for about 200.

you could get the SLPs and spend 400 bux or you could get some dynomax race bullits for $50 a piece then get a catted x-pipe for another $150 or $200. after that your next mod should include a cold air intake...gears...and a tuner.

First off, welcome to the site. Secondly you want to hear it, so go for an off-road h pipe or x pipe. The x is a bit raspier, but I love the sound. Then deff. some gears, go for the 4.30s from FRPP.

u gottan auto or a manual...cuz 4.30 for a manual i think would be tooooo steep but thats just my opinion. for an auto 4.30's would be ok...i'd go with 4.10...frpp not richmond...i have richmond and they're fine but a bitch to install.

I'm running the 4.30s with a manual. Didn't really loose any top end either. I personally feel they are fine but I have a higher red line than the 2v's, so take that into consideration before ordering.

yea all that sounds good... maybe the exhaust and some gears looks like its gunna be about 800 or so.. and the 4.10's right?
its a 5 spd, im kinda thinkin about a short throw... i got the car on a really good deal on autotrader just about 150 miles from my town... individual seller too.. so the price was really good... i payed 10,500 without all the extra fee's like gettin the title transfered and what not... its got just under 69xxx on it.... so its not to bad... this car is deff gunna be my main money pit... like i've already told my girlfriend... forget about gettin something huge for christmas... the car comes 1st.. so any other upgrade tips would be much appriciaited |

if your planning on going FI get 3.73
but if you plan on getting into the 9second range 4.10s are fine with FI

I have an 2002 GT 5 Speed, I went to the muffler shop and had the mufflers cut off, and pipeing put in its place. This is a very low $ way of going and the sound is great it is loud, but not many people go this rout so the car will not sound like every one else
