Weird gear whine

just had my rear end beefed up yesterday. 31 spline conversion, and 4.10s and I do have a weird gear whine, that has an almost humming noise as I go faster. Now, I'm convinced my speedo is off so I think the gears they sent me aren't the ones I ordered...I now need to find out what I have. But at low speeds i have no gear whine, moderate speeds a little, as i go faster its louder, and sounds like the hum you get when you get when you rub your finger over the top of a wine glass. Any ideas or suggestions as how to get rid of it?

have them re shim the gears.

I know it's gear whine, but I didnt expect it to sound like that, and whats a good way to figure out what gears I do have? Since I know at 90mph im only keeping up with traffic is wrong.

"90mph" in fifth gear on a 65 mph road would be 4:10's

the thing is i retuned my car for the 4.10s.

Wouldnt when you use the x-cal when you put in 4.10s recalibrate the speedo?

Mark the drive shaft with chalk...

Mark the bottom of the tire with chalk...

Rotate the tire and count how many time the drive shaft turns per one full rotation of the tire...

3 1/4 rotations - 3.27
3 3/4 rotations - 3.73
4 1/10 rotations - 4.10

So on and so forth...

I used a speed cal because I didn't have an xcal at the time.

maybe you put it in wrong.. the only other thing would be you have like 4.88's lol
