Stage III heads

ok what do you guys think about stage 3 heads with some VT stage II cams? i have the cams all picked out but im trying to figure out about what heads i should get. i mean i don't know too much about the 4.6 heads and different brands. I have looked through Patriot, VT and a few others. I saw stage 3's but didn't know if they are too advanced for my car and was wondering what you guys recommended. thanks.

if you are going to still drive the car everyday, i wouldn't suggest stage III heads. i know plenty of people that are driving everyday with stage II heads and cams without any issues.

For 2 grand, can't you buy your own flowbench and tools?

Seems a bit pricey to me. They would probably get alot more business and thus $$ if they lowered those prices to something less insane. I've seen entire 99 DOHC cobra engines for near the price of their stage II heads.

you get what you pay for. and coming from VT, its definitly worth the money. $2k is the average price you are going to pay anywhere for heads that are going to flow like that. mine were $1700 and some change from SHM, and they are only a stage I. with a reputation that VT has for building motors, flowing heads, and just about anything else you can think of, business is doing real good...

yeah and if you buy your own flow bench it doesn't mean you are going to make your heads worth a crap. You need to know how to port and where to port. Just cause you open them up and they flow alot doesn't mean they are gonna make any power. I have the VT stage II heads with cams and they are great. Not to mention VT has some of the best costumer service out there. And about the stage 3 heads, unless you are putting alot of boost and have a very high flow intake the heads might be hurting you more than anything. Like Jimmy said, just go with stage 2's, when i go with my turbos i might upgrade to stage 3 but it will benifit the 25psi

they are 600 for the cams and 2000 for the heads and if you have yours that you can send for a core they are 1700. You should see anywhere from a 50 to 70 hp increase, but that depends on the tune, and what intake you have, the more air you can get in there the better difference they will make. If you have anymore questions just go ahead and ask and i will do my best to help you out.
