Whats the difference between a small block and a long block?? Will the stock heads off a 01 gt fit onto a small block?

Do you mean short block?

A shortblock is just the block and internals...No heads/oilpan/or anything else...

A longblcok all you have to do it put your intake and accessories on the blcoka dn drop it in your car and you are good to go...

yeah my bad a short block. So basically a short block is just the block and the long block is everything you need just about.

Yep that is it...The shortblock also comes with all the internals i.e crank/pistons/rods/etc...

The long block comes with everything and is ready to drop in...

Its all about money...

If you know of a good place to get your stock heads ported and polished etc. then take your stock heads there....Then buy a short block...

I bought a long block because I am buying my engine as a total package...

A long block is nice but it costs quite a bit more...

it depends on who built the new one and with what materials.

Most time the whole point of buying a new long block it to get stronger internals, and better heads and intake, ect. ect. unless ofcourse you blew your engine and just want to replace the engine, and then you can get a stock long block with the origional style internals. But it seems kinda pointless to me to get a whole new engine and not take the opportunity to upgrade everything inside and out.

its not gonna ahdnle any more power than say the exact same short block. they can be the exact same thing internally. if you go back up and read, he stated that the shorblock is just the block and internals as the long block is all that plus the heads, cams and everything else
