cracked intake

Well I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, my plastic upper intake manifold cracked right below the thermostat. It started leaking coolant, it looked like it was just a gasket but the Ford dealership said that it is a weak design and that the intake was actually cracked. Ford wants $475.00 for the stock replacement, but I just read the article in MMFF and they tested the new Power Plus Typhoon Intake and seemed to give it a thumbs up. Is there anyone here running this intake? I can get it for about 530.00 online so I figured I mine as well upgrade? What do you guys think?

Yeah, those are notorious for cracking .They replaced them under warranty for people who had the crack a while back. A new intake from SHM or Ford Racing is $209 with the aluminum crossover. Shop around ,and you can find one cheaper. Who told you $475 ? Sure that wasnt a swap kit for the 96-98 GT's ?

Never heard of that Typhoon intake. I think you already have the best intake judging by your sig. . Centrifugal blowers need more RPM's to make big boost,so would help to know the runner volume on the Typhoon thingy . Though the PI intake was designed for low-range operation, they still do well in the mid range where you start to need it IMO

But again,Im not familiar with the Typhoon dealy.

Gout

The typhoon is junk...

There is a post on here about that intake...It has been proven to be junk...

I think you would benefit from a RR or Bullitt swap...Also trick slow is comin gout (mispelled, not arthritis lol) with a new manifold in early 07 that looks like the bullitt but the trcik flow is a direct bolt on...No install kit needed...that is the one I am going for...

Just check around get one off a forum or something and then when the trcik flow comes out grab one of those...
