Power Door Locks Problem
I have a 2001 Ford Mustang GT and the power door locks are giving me problems on both sides of the car for the passenger and driver doors.
The locks (both driver and passenger sides) work now and again with the remote. Whenever I press the remote unlock or lock button the car would sometimes open or lock the door, when it does open I would keep hitting the (unlock or lock) button on the remote to see if it would continue to function properly but the locks slowly dies trying to push the door lock tab up, sort of like the battery is dying try to push it up. The locks do get power because you can see the door tab trying to come up, the remotes have new batteries, and the fuses are perfect. I ask anyone who has encountered this problem to please follow the thread with information. Thanks in advance. |

i just walked up to the computer from working on mine. i had drivers door would not lock but not unluck using remote or door button. pass. side was fine. i pulled the door panel and found that the actuator assy was bad. (sounded like it was grinding and it had no torque at all, i could stop its movement with one finger.)
anyway, ran over to the local junkyard, bought an actuator for 27 bucks and reinstalled in minutes. it took me longer to remove the panel and the assy, being careful to understand the works prior to just tearing apart. its doable though. total time on one door was about 2hrs, the second door would fly by at about 1hr now. i cant think of an easy way to tell what it is without tearing it down like i did. good luck |
