the units are the same.. the tune put on them is what matters and yes they make one for your car.
they tech make 2 kinds of x2's one where the settings are locked and one where you can play around with some of the parameters.

Here is the thing ..
I'm gonna have to get a new x pipe cause mine is bent into a half moon shape up by the connection to the manifolds where the O2s are at .. looks like someone took a hammer to it .. or grab a set of long tubes, which I'm gonna do .. picking up the Pypes SS headers on ebay for 300 bucks .. blueovalindustries hooked me up on those .. anyway .. I have a shorty x and h in the garage from my vert .. so thats all good and I'm gonna grab a MAC SS cat back if I can find a good used one off ebay or the forums... I also just picked up some 4.10s .. so with the long tubes and 4.10's I'm gonna need a new tune and have to have the gear ratio reset .. should I just keep the sct chip and have it reburned .. or pick up an xcal and have the tunes set on there ?

that's your call man. I prefer the hand held xcal because you can download tunes and get new ones quickly.

u can only reburn a cumputer chip a certain a mount of times before it's just shot, same as a rewriteable CD.

Tim tuned the car right?
He will send the tune that was on the chip to you in an email so you can upload it to the Xcal...he can also factor in the exhuast and gears at that time as well... He did it for me when I went from a chip to an xcal2... I got my tuner used and it was being used on a 97 before I bought it... |

Mine was burned at least 7 times and still works like a champ...Its far from being like a CD...The chip is like a thumb-drive...You can put info on and off of it...Nothing actually "burns" into the chip... |

Thanks Chris ..
I'm really wanting to get it on the dyno again b/c I will be throwing a DIY intercooler set up like the one bransdaman78 aka banned has with the piping kit and treadstone cooler ... that way I can have it retuned with the long tubes and intercooler to keep it at safe levels on the stock block ... Do you think I should just keep the chip and have it retuned on that .. or go ahead and ditch it for the xcal .. It would be nice to save the 250 dollars on the tuner .. but I'd like some input on which is better .. the chip or the tuner because I don't need several tunes .. the car is daily driven and won't see the track but maybe here or there ..

I would get the hand held.
the only advantage of the chip is that you can flip tunes while driving.

+1 if your not going to be using multiple tunes then i find it much easier to use the X2 considering you can change things around alot easier

I agree. that's a great feature.. too bad the x2 doesn't do it. it's the x2's only downside.

hm....... i can kinda understand how it doesn't, considering that it's loaded onto the cars computer, and not a sep memory bank in itself.......
doesn't it take like 5 min to load an Xcal tune? |
