New guy with a ton of questions
Hi guys! I have been lurking around this site now for about a year and you guys have some sick rides to say the least. A few days ago I finally found the right stang for me in Vienna, Virginia. I traveled roughly 4 hours each way from Pittsburgh to go pick it up at Infinity of Tysons Corner. Its an '02 True Blue GT, 5 speed, with gray cloth interior. I couldnt be any happier with it! But anyway, on to the questions lol
-where can I find production numbers? -Where can I find what gears my car has? -Will SLP loudmouth 1's be really raspy with stock cats and manifolds? - Are american Muscles billet parts pretty nice? -Whats the best short throw shifters for these cars? MGW? Thanks guys! -Dan |

Hey, welcome to the forums.
You can learn about your car here: 2002 Ford Mustang Your car has 3.27 gear stock. Unless they were changed by another owner. As for the SLPs I dont know much about them. You can search on the forums. You can also start by reading this post First Modifications For Your Mustang, Look Here The parts from american muscle are very nice IMO. Tell them you are from the forums to get a discount.

Welcome to the forums
![]() -Where can I find what gears my car has? jack up the tires of the axle off the ground mark the 12 o clock pos. on the tire then mark the 12 o clock on the drive shaft spin the tire 2 times and count the rotations of the drive shaft at the same time that should get you in the ballpark number on the drive shaft rotations. -Will SLP loudmouth 1's be really raspy with stock cats and manifolds? Slp is a good brand. I suggest you check out our exhaust section because there should be a clip there.. let me know if you don't find it and I will be happy to get you a sound clip - Are american Muscles billet parts pretty nice? I have a few on my car and the quality is nice. plus as said you get a discount from using our forum vendor -Whats the best short throw shifters for these cars? MGW? MGW hands down

Welcome, and congrats on the car. The stock gear ratio is 3.27, if you look under the rear of your car there is a small metal tag on the rear diff cover.
As for the slp, my friend has the lm1 catback on his car with stock h and headers and it sounds ok I'm not a fan of slp bc it is too raspy it doesn't have that muscle car tone, but he love it As for American muscle, there products are good, some of the cheapest prices around and also free shipping, you can't go wrong. You might also want to check out rpmoutlet.com they have some nice deals. |

Thanks for all of your help, I think Im gonna go ahead on the SLP's, I heard them on a mustang at the beach and they sounded pretty sick, they are modular so if I dont like em I can slip in a flowmaster or something.

Sry about the not searching before I posted thing, and there is definetly a ton of knowledge on here! I live about an hour or so east of Pittsburgh in Latrobe. Anyone else from around my area? Im making my first parts run tonight, Im gonna order a Mach 1 grille delete, Mach 1 front spoiler, billet AC knobs, billet window/lock buttons, steeda shift knob, billet headlight knob, and lighted door sills.
I decided to wait on the exhaust. That will probably be it until fall/winter when I put it away.

SLP LM1s with the stock H-pipe are not loud or raspy. With an off-road pipe its a whole other story.

Welcome to the board! like everyone has stated, there is tons of info on mustangs here. search is your friend. personally the LM1 is my favorite the lm2 is not appealing to me.
but bassani is the best haha. had to say that .they pay me for it j/kMGW hands down is a great shifter. ive tryed other shifters in friends cars and they were also good but when all was said and done I was glad to get back in my car and feel the MGW. its a great change on even a stock car. highly reccomended. and american muscle can be pricey on certain things but they do have quality products which is what we all want. also take a look at Ninosport Mustang Performance Parts ive used them and they have superior customer service. if you have any questions dont be shy, give people PM's or post a thread. asking is a good thing. in the past other forums have bashed me for asking questions and made fun of me for asking which intake. which exhaust which.. etc... but the best way to find out is to ask before you waste your money on something horrible. anyways. welcome.
