Got my FORD GT fuel pump today... NOW??
Is there anything i can go ahead and do to this pump to prepare for install? Ive read about this install but the instructions were not very clear and didnt mention anything about this gates fuel hose that i have. Anyone willing to explain this pump modifying procedure? I wanted to get this and the gears done this weekend so that all i have left is to install my SC and IC kit and head to the tuner. (4 hours away) Thanks fellas.

thats the one im talking about.... I didnt see where it said anything about that gates fuel line. and the pics are blurry. And cutting a 45 degree angle on what, trim what nipple? it just kinda lost me.

nevermind i got it... i had to think about it. Once i saw the old pump i see why you have to do all these things. Ive fixed a fuel pump out of my 3000gt before so im kinda familiar with them but wanted to know why the cutting, hose, etc. limited said not to cut the nipple because it will leak. I dont need that. Cant i just get some wire connector things and slide them on the tabs of the fuel pump? why is cutting the nipple needed?

and it says to leave that small piece of hose on the nipple to increase diameter. Does that gates fuel line hose slide over it? Where does it come into play?

I will do best I can..remove pump/hat from tank, unbolt fuel connector and sending unit from basket, unplug connector and set hat aside(be careful with the wires to the sending unit)unbolt the top of basket and remove fuel pump, remove stock strainer and rubber mount from pump(will reuse). I drilled 2 7/8 holes on bottom of basket(one was were the check valve is) and several along the front and sides of basket.I did not drill the back, the side with the sock that attach's to the basket, which by the way you can eliminate. take the gt pump out of the white plastic retainer and remove the black fuel line from it,DO NOT TRIM THE NIPPLE ON PUMP. note what term is pos and neg.(there is a + and - on pump) you need this info later.put the rubber piece and stock strainer on gt pump and reinstall in basket, reattach top. remove fuel line from nipple on hat and discard the line and pprv. cut off elect connector and add spade term, make sure it is + to +(old pump should have polarity on it also)attach fuel line(gates) to nipple on hat, plug on elect connections, bolt sending unit. now you have to loop the hose so when you hook it to pump and put in tank it does not get crimped. you will see what I mean when you install it in tank.the distance between hat nipple and pump nipple is small(when installed so thats why it is looped...good luck it is pretty straight foward

forgot to mention, use the whole 1' piece of fuel line, makes a nice loop when you tuck the fuel line in tank

I used a 7/8 hole saw, there is no set size to use,7/8 seemed to fit perfect, was exact size of the lower check valve. I put 2 on bottom and either 4 or 6 on front/side. did not drill backside to help retain fuel during accel. and the spot where the sending unit attach's.
this is the way I did it,this is not the only way to do it. the purpose is to not suck the basket dry

i cut the plug off and put on spade connectors but i got to thinking. What if that ever through a spark in that gas tank? Is that possible? or is there something that prevents that? Black is negative and red and black is positive... right?

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!!!!!!
Started right up! i drilled about 5 1/5" or 3/8" holes in the bottom and 4-5 in the sides. Sound good limited? i think that was plenty of holes. Some say you dont have to drill holes.
