4.10's in all actuality should be the right gear for almost anyone. Forced induction or not but most people don't want to hear that and want to argue.

you could always play it safe and go 3.90 thats a nice midways gear. should put you on the verge of not keepin traction and at the same time give you a good jump up on the acceleration.
i think a 4.10 would suck for daily driver unless you work close to home. i drive 30 minutes just to get to work and its all interstate. right now in 5th gear i drive around 70 or so and its at like 1700 rpm maybe a hair less. either way .. the 4.10 will definatly set it over 2 grand and those of us that do drive our stangs daily might want to consider the extra gas its going to cost us by running around at 2k+ rpms. i think these shoulda just came with 6 speeds then there wouldnt be any issues.

and who said that being in a higher rpms by like 300 or so will make your gas mileage worse. Our cars actually run more efficiently in a little bit higher rpms and you will be surprised that your gas mileage might actually improve with 4.10's, thats of course if you stay out of it. Also saving 3.00 bucks a gas tank is not worth to me not being happy with how the car performs, we bought mustangs not fucking civics

How will the 4.30 affect top end speeds over the 4.10? I keep getting mixed reviews. Someone somewhere said the car won't break 80-90mph with the 4.30 and others have said you can still do 150. So what's the truth?

when you even gonna go over 120, if you are doing it on the street than you are fucking stupid and don't need my answer anyways, if you could only do 90 with 4.30 gears than thats weird, cause somehow i did 125 in 4th gear at the track. Damn racetrack is lying to me then

I think I'll be happy with the 3.73s as a daily driver with 400+rwhp .. I mean with the 4.10's it was easy to either 1st 3rd 5th shift or 2nd 3rd 5th shift off the line in normal driving .. I'm just not gonna have my car on the track that often .. and 3.73's are a big enough step up from stock w/ the blower and supporting mods...
You'll notice the 4.10's driving around a few days after you get them .. its not like adding a supercharger people .. but you will def. notice a big difference in the way the car drives ..

i wasnt complaining about the gas milage that we get. I was just saying that driving down the highway at higher rpms is going to effect gas miliage. i know we dont get great gas milage but its also nice to get the best you can out of what you drive "IF" you drive it every day and long distance like i do. it doesnt bother me that much. just trying to give advice to those that do drive long distance. the thing about it is that i get decent milage since i drive interstate most of the drive so its 5th gear all the way. but if putting a 4.10 is going to make my 5th gear sit over 2k then its sorta like driving down the interstate in 4th gear. its stupid and a waste. but if you drive your car mostly on weekends then ide say 4.30 ftw. hey its just my opinion. what do i know

You're right, I don't need your answer, becasue it seems like you have a smart ass remark for most questions people ask around here. If I were a sponsor, I'd make sure that they pulled you as a moderator, it's just bad business to have such piss poor representation associated with a company. But I'm not a sponsor, so I will wait for another qualified response other than yours. Think about it, It's like being the manager of a parts/service department. When someone calls in to ask a question who is not as mechanically inclined or educated, and your a prick on the phone, do you think that people are going to come in and buy parts from you? Absolutely not, they're going to say, "Fuck that, I'm not going there anymore." Same goes when you're representing your site. But what do I know, I only own a PR/Marketing firm here in Chicago, so selling companies and their reputation is something I have no clue about. It's a legit question; there's no reason to do 150 down the road, but it's nice knowing it's there, and realizing the fact that here in Chicago the average speed is 80-90mph on the highway, I don't want the car maxed out or at redline when keeping up with traffic. So to everyone else, what are your thoughts and or experience between the two? Last edited by jrobinsonchicago : May 3rd, 2008 at 10:46 PM. |

not according to the Richmond Gear Installation Video that i have. If its a DD, they need to be broken in by driving normal for 20 min then an hour of cool down. Repeat x 3. If its only drag racing applications, you dont need to be broken in because they wont heat up incredible hot during a short 1/4 mile burst. Its just so the gears dont warp due to not being tempered.
