ET diff with 4.10 vs 3.73
My buddy have 3.73 and I don't think they are anything to write home about. But I hear that 4.10 is a good gear but it puts more strain on your motor trans and rear ect. what's the difference between the two ratios in the 1/4? Like a tenth or two?

it all depends on driver dude, it really don't matter just get the 4.10's, we have enough gear questions just going on today.

and there is no certain et gain, not like 4.10 gears guarantee 2 tenths off your time when 3.73's only give 1.5

There is also no additional "strain" on the motor/tranny. The engine is capable of producing "x" amount of torque, which is transmitted to the rear axle by the transmission and drive shaft. The rear axle ratio has nothing to do with the amount of torque being delivered or transmitted right up to the pinion gear--that's where things change...

I know the 4:10 dudes get me in the 1/8.
I had one local guy on tennesspeed.net race me at BB and he pulled me by .092 with slicks and 4:10's in the 1/8 and I came back at the top and got him by .097. lol ![]() Before his new mods, this was our run at BB in June heat and was off my my best of 13.58 that day with a 2.04 60ft. 00GT -----Me 1.83 -----2.14 60ft 5.666----5.875 330 8.813----8.905 1/8 79.35----81.89 mph 11.539--11.520 1000 13.816--13.719 1/4 99.45----103.04 mph He's faster than I am now since he's got some more mods now. The ones with a * are the mods I think he had at the time. Mods:
8.369 @ 80.87mph Best 1/8th on 100 shot: 7.973 @ 84.88mph Best 1/4 time on motor: 13.494 @ 99.85mph Best 1/4 on 100 shot: 12.683 @ 110.04mph I had everything in my garage list except for the Trick Flow plenum.

I have 4.10s and love them..They don't put strain on the motor (at least i don't think)..You loose about 1-3 mpg depending on the car and mods though
