Fuel Filter

So the other day my car stalled out while cruisin in 5th gear. I check the fuel filter and its the stock one and the car has 55k miles. Obviously 'dirty' fuel got to it and the fuel filter needs to be replaced.

I go and buy a Motorcraft one from Advanced Auto Parts and today after school I go to put it in, but I couldnt get the old one off...

This was my procedure.

1. Press inertia switch and I let it sit for a few minutes to clear the lines
2. Go under the car and use a flat tip to take the bandclamp off.
3. I take off the C clamps on top of the lines that connect to the filter.
4. I went to pull the filter out of the female connecters and it wouldnt budge at all...

Is there a specific tool I need to use to get the filter out of the female connectors?

yeah, the teeth on the inside are like reverse. you gotta jam that thing in there and it releases. it's hard to explain the design. but basically its like a quick release that isn't quick. lol

hahaha lol I did the same thing. The haynes manual didn't say anything about the fuel line tool and I pulled and pulled for like 30 minutes. Then I stopped pulling, started yelling and cursing, and then I pulled some more. Finally gave up and searched MM and found the answer. Felt like such an idiot...

copper is a better conductor and platinum when exposed to high amounts of hear melts.
platmiuns only upside it that they last longer.
