makes it more difficult to keep the car clean if you have to drive down roads that have dirt/dust, i had to drive behind my friends dumped cobra and by the time we drove down his gravel driveway my car looked like it had been in a dust storm, granted it is a black car, and the majority of dumped cars i have seen are right behind the rear axle, driving down the road you dont need to worry about the heat, but if you idle on top of a big metal dish thing for a couple hours in 120 degree desert air i might be concerned about you mental condition

You dump in front of the rear axle not behind.

i'm doing this with my dodge dakota.

Do turndowns make it louder? I would assume so if i were to guess... the sound waves would like vibrate off the ground and up to the car and echo like crazy...

you answered your own question, my freind had turn down tips on the end of his exhuast and it echoed of the ground and made it loud even exitin at the rear bumper.

IMHO, I don't like Dumps. I like to keep my car clean, and I think it distorts the sound. Sure it's loud, because it's bellow off the underside of the car and the ground. I like a full exhaust, but that is my opinion. I'm not bad mouthing anyones car. I'm just saying that I don't much care for them.

Turndowns will make it less deep. I run with no turn downs just a open exit from muffler. It is very very deep in the low rpms and very very loud on the top end.

they make it louder inside the car, but not on the outside. the only drawback of having dumps is the buildup of exhaust fumes inside the car while idling and sitting still. mine is dumped right now and im most likely gonna get new tailpipes soon cause im tired of the fumes.

isnt that a bad thing to do? because the heat from the exhaust builds up in the rear axle casing?
