i didnt have to disconnect the steering shaft. we jacked the car up off the ground and dropped the K member after we suspended the motor. we only had to take off the starter and the K. thats about it.

Dropping the k-member is pretty much the best way to do it. yes it will take up the better part of your day but even if you drop them in with the heads off you will still have a hell of a time getting to alot of the bolts for the headers with the k-member in place.

i was planning on dropping the k member to do mine. then i wiped a rod bearing, and had to get the whole bottom end rebuilt. so i figured since my mechanic's gonna have the motor out, he may as well install my lt's...

How did you get your steering rack off with the K member if you didnt disconnect the steering shaft? I mean it was just one bolt for shaft, and 2 for the rack, no big deal at all.

And I was able to get my Mac LT headers up with just the K-member drop, didnt have to disconnect the starter myself on the 02gt.
