yeah alot of times the synchros are shitty but i will attest to this....
These are Mustangs, not Ferraris... you cant RAM it into gear and expect shit to work 100% of the time. take your time on a shift, dont be doing that quick throw/ram it in bullshit, and treat it right. I foudn that out the hard way... watch someone who can truley drive a stick and youll see. Theyre quick on the shift but light on the pressure. its in the wrist not in the arm... |

well i can do a good shift, a good clean precise shift and still bark my tires all the way 1-2 and 2-3 and theyre BFGs...
powershifting is just asking for something to break... |

the trannies can be built stronger, dont get me wrong, but in stock form the tr3650 and t45 are a little uhhhh not up to par. I mean yeah the tranny is good whne used right, but it does suck that you kind of have to baby it a little bit

i don't mean to ask a ? on this thread but the only problem i have with mine is under high rpms it doesn't like to go into 3rd. Any thing over 4 k and its hit and miss. No grinding it just like you go for it and its like hiting a wall. any ideas on to why that be i been thinkin its a syncro but i don't know much about transmissions.

bent shift fork. And the 3650 is pretty good. I don't think AC's let go till 700ft/lbs If you are gonna put alot of power thru it and bang gears all the time then its worth it to get it upgraded or built.

so what about the tr 3550?
ive not heard to much about that one im only asking these questions because i just bought my car like 3 weeks ago and the tranny was grinding at anywhere from 40 to 55 in 5th gear and the service man told me im going to slow to be in 5th gear and i was like bs because my v6 could do 40 in 5th no problem but it makes this wierd grinding/scraping sound |

+1 They seem to be hit and miss. Some handle 700 lbs, while others break with little over stock power. I think that most of the trannies that are breaking with little power are mostly because of driver error though...

could also be a blocking ring. I rememebr when my mech was diagnosising my car while I was on the phone with him he told me to floor it in 2nd and shift to 3rd at peak rpms. if it didnt go in its prolly the blocking ring, if it just grinds its the synchro. it just ground. Youll never really know till you crack her open and take a look. |
